A round table, pale wood, a few words spoken softly. Sometimes coming home feels like this.
The kitchen opens onto a round table, and it comes naturally to imagine someone pulling up a chair. Wood gathers the light, surfaces remain quiet, distances seem made for talking without raising our voices. A half-finished cup could already belong to the scene. These are simple details, yet they touch a home’s most intimate promise: finding a place where our presence is awaited.
Here we think of ordinary days, the ones we rarely photograph. Bread on the table, a question asked from the doorway, the sound of someone moving in the next room. Sometimes we realise we were happy only afterwards, remembering moments like these. Sottovoce would like to welcome them discreetly, giving people the freedom to feel close even while doing different things.
The light will change through the afternoon. It will brush the edge of the worktop, climb the wall and then slowly retreat. Sitting still, we might not notice at first. Then, for an instant, everything will seem in its place: a home, our breathing, time wide enough to hold them both. A fleeting moment, to recognise as it passes.
