Zaffiro

Blue finds depth beside stone and grows lighter when it meets wood. On pale surfaces it leaves a reflection; in darker details it seems to hold a thought. Zaffiro begins with the possibility of building a home through shades that answer one another, as certain cherished words do: hearing just one is enough to bring many others back to mind.

We would like the rooms to become familiar without losing their ability to surprise us. The room we see on waking changes while we are out and welcomes us back in a different light. We, too, return changed. There is something tender in this small daily encounter: the pleasure of finding one another again and, at the same time, permission to have changed a little.

We imagine an afternoon spent almost without noticing beside the window. At some point we look up and the blue has taken on a new shade. No object has moved, yet something has happened. The home goes on living through the passages of the day, holding a delicate beauty that we can only encounter, never possess entirely.
